Student Arrival

Please help keep arrival and dismal times safe for all of our students by following the procedures. There is no adult supervision before 7:20 am, so do not drop off your student(s) before this time. If your student(s) arrives before the bell, he or she will need to go to the cafeteria. Breakfast will be served from 7:20-7:45 am.

All students will receive and be required to wear a picture ID this year. The ID will have two identifying marks. The bar code will serve as their Student Nutrition pass. The other identifier will include information from PowerSchool, allowing students to be accurately tracked on buses. In the future, it will be used for attendance.

Student Drop-off

Student drop-off/pick-up is located at the back of the school on Alaska Ave. Do not park in the south parking lot. This area is for Stepping Stones PreK parents.

K-2 Students: Please walk your student(s) to the SE gate where a staff member will greet and assist the student(s) inside. If the staff member is busy, you may walk them to the cafeteria doors.

3-5 Students: Students should enter the SE gate where they will be greeted and directed to the cafeteria.

Walkers

Safety in numbers. If your student walks to school, encourage him or her to walk with other students and cross only at the pedestrian crosswalks. Students should head directly to the cafeteria. If the tardy bell already rang, the student(s) will need to go to the front entrance to be signed in.

Bus Students

All bus students will exit the bus at the bus zone, located north of the school. No other vehicles are permitted to use this lane. Students will exit and head to the cafeteria. A staff member will be on duty to assist students.

Late Arrivals

If a student arrives late, you must sign them in at the front office. Park and walk your student to the west entrance located on Florida Ave. Ring the bell, and a staff member will greet you. Do not park or stop to let your student out on Florida Ave. This is dangerous

Dismissal Procedures

When students are dismissed for the day, students should go directly home, to their assigned bus, or to the parent pick-up area. Students will not be allowed to “hang-out” at the end of the day.

Student Pick-up

Please make sure that all emergency contact and pick-up information has been updated in PowerSchool. For the safety of our students, students will not be released to anyone who is not on the list. If you are late, you will need to park and pick up your student(s) at the front office. Please note on the map the locations for each grade.

K-2 Students: Parents will need to walk to the teacher to check-out student(s). The teacher will make note of the person who picked up the student. If the person picking up the student is not on the list, the teacher will NOT allow the child to leave.

3-5 Students: In the beginning of the school year, please follow the same procedures as K-2 students. Once the teacher gets to know you, the student can let the teacher know that you are here by giving him or her a high-five or fist bump before leaving.

Walkers

Students should walk with other students, cross the street only at the designated crosswalks, and go directly home. Kindergarten-2nd graders must have an adult or older sibling present before they will be allowed to walk home.

Bus Students

A staff member will be at the bus zone to help students. In the event of inclement weather, students will wait in a classroom until the bus arrives.

Early Sign-Out

If you need to sign your student out early, call the front office (575-812-5400) before arriving. Enter using the west front entrance located on Florida Ave. Ring the doorbell, and a staff member will greet you. Please have your ID ready. Sign out your student in the notebook located on the counter. If the ID holder is NOT on the contact list, the student will NOT be released. Once again, please ensure that contact and emergency information has been updated on PowerSchool.

Visitors

The entrance is located on Florida Ave. Please ring the door bell which is located on the door frame, and wait for a staff member to greet you. Once in the building, you will need to show your ID and sign into the notebook located on the front counter. All visitors in the building must wear the name tag provided by the front office.
